Why I Prefer The Servers To Repeat Our Orders

Though some may find it naggish when the Server repeats Customer orders in the restaurant, I found it to be useful.
I always acknowledge the Server when he or she repeats my order. I see it as part of good customer service.

In fact, I think all restaurant should practice repeating their customers’ orders just to make sure they got the orders right.

Else something like this may happen:
3 customers walked-in to a restaurant during lunch time on a weekday. From the look of them, some were office workers. They informed the Restaurant Server they need a table for 4

  • Customer #1: We would like to order two Ginger Tea, one Plain Water, one Yong Tau Foo, one Sambal KangKung, one White Rice, one Mee Suah and two Sambal Fish Rice
  • Server #1: ok

10 mins later the 4th customer joined the table. And the Server give her a menu.
  • Customer #4: No need. We ordered already

After another 10 mins, the food was served; two Ginger Tea, one Plain Water, one Yong Tau Foo, one Sambal KangKung, one White Rice, one Mee Suah but only one Sambal Fish Rice by a Server #2
  • Customer #1: We ordered two Sambal Fish Rice
  • Server #2: Oh

After another 5 mins, the second Sambal Fish Rice was yet to be served so the Customer decided to check on her order.
  • Customer #4: Our second Sambal Fish Rice has not come yet
  • Server #3: Another one r?
  • Customer #4: We already ordered, not yet come
  • Server #3: OK. Wait ah

After another 10 mins, the second Sambal Fish Rice was still no where to be seen, so the Customer #4 decided to cancel the order as it’s near to end of the lunch time and the rest of her 3 friends have already finished their lunch.
  • Customer #4: Hello, my Sambal Fish Rice still not ready? I want to cancel the order, please send us our bill.
  • Server #3: It’s almost ready, we need 10 mins to prepare
  • Customer #4: But we ordered together with the rest of the orders. My friends already finished their lunch and mine still not yet served.
  • Server #3: You order together meh? (then she left and got the original Server #1 to come explain to us)

  • Server #1: Sorry ah, just now I heard only 1 Sambal Fish Rice. So only put in 1 order.
  • Customer #4: I don't want the rice already, Please cancel and send us our bill…
  • Server #1: But I already said sorry….
  • Customer #4 (fuming already): Just because you left out my order and now all my friends have finished their lunch, you expect us to sit around waiting only? We don’t want the rice already, just let us cancel and send us our bill!

Sigh….. I don’t mind bad food. But I’m particular about bad services.
What does she mean by “But I said I’m sorry already”?
Does it mean after she said sorry, all of us should still sit around waiting for the rice to come and not allow to cancel the order? Even if the rice is served then, I won’t have the appetite to force it down my throat.

Sigh..... Another restaurant added into the boycott list
