Zong Zi

Duan Wu day was 2 weeks ago but we’ve just got the chance to sit down recently to savor Mom’s homemade dumplings.

My favorite is still the sweet version with red been paste filling.

Somehow I can always find the tooth for this sweet concoction regardless of the time. I can down a few right after lunch or for my midnight snack. It is not as filling as I remember them to be.
I used to have an impression that glutinous rice is too heavy for meals and not good for digestion.

The recipe is simple;
only red bean, sugar, glutinous rice and alkaline water (I have no idea what is that either) are used.

The look might have been pull down a few notch (blame it on the photographer :p)
but the taste is heavenly.

As for the savory version, this year, mom tried another new recipe.
Gingko and peanut made their appearances.

Bro would love this but my vote still goes to the sweet red bean paste dumplings!
